Favourite Prayers

Unfortunately, I can't post up a few of my favourite prayers because they are subject to copyright. *sigh* All prayers listed herein are either from The Book of Common Prayer, 1979 or are in the public domain.

So here's a sampler of my favourite prayers, aside from the Pater NosterAve Maria, the Jesus Prayer, and Gloria Patri.

A Short Litany to the Sacred Heart of Jesus

In all my temptations,
I place my trust in you, O Sacred Heart of Jesus.

In all my weaknesses,
I place my trust in you, O Sacred Heart of Jesus.

In all my difficulties,
I place my trust in you, O Sacred Heart of Jesus.

In all my trials,
I place my trust in you, O Sacred Heart of Jesus.

In all my sorrows,
I place my trust in you, O Sacred Heart of Jesus.

In all my work,
I place my trust in you, O Sacred Heart of Jesus.

In every failure,
I place my trust in you, O Sacred Heart of Jesus.

In every discouragement,
I place my trust in you, O Sacred Heart of Jesus.

In life and in death,
I place my trust in you, O Sacred Heart of Jesus.

In time and eternity,
I place my trust in you, O Sacred Heart of Jesus.

To the Holy Family

Jesus, Mary and Joseph,
I give you my heart and my soul.

Jesus, Mary and Joseph,
assist me in my last agony.

Jesus Mary and Joseph,
may I breathe out my soul in peace with you.

Prayers from The Book of Common Prayer 1979

O Lord, you have taught us that without love whatever we do is worth nothing; Send your Holy Spirit and pour into our hearts your greatest gift, which is love, the true bond of peace and of all virtue, without which whoever lives is accounted dead before you. Grant this for the sake of your only Son Jesus Christ, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen. (pg 216)

Most loving Father, whose will it is for us to give thanks for all things, to fear nothing but the loss of you, and to cast all our care on you who care for us: Preserve us from faithless fears and worldly anxieties, that no clouds of this mortal life may hide from us the light of that love which is immortal, and which you have manifested to us in your Son Jesus Christ our Lord; who lives and reigns with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen. (pg 216-217)

O God of unchangeable power and eternal light: Look favourably on your whole Church, that wonderful and sacred mystery; by the effectual working of your providence, carry out in tranquility the plan of salvation; let the whole world see and know that things which were cast down are being raised up, and things which had grown old are being made new, and that all things are being brought to their perfection by him through whom all things were made, your Son Jesus Christ our Lord; who lives and reigns with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen. (pg 280)

Lord Jesus Christ, Son of the living God, we pray you to set your passion, cross, and death between your judgment and our souls, now and in the hour of our death. Give mercy and grace to the living; pardon and rest to the dead; to your holy Church peace and concord; and to us sinners everlasting life and glory; for with the Father and the Holy Spirit you live and reign, one God, now and for ever. Amen. (pg 282)

O God, by whom the meek are guided in judgment, and light rises up in darkness for the godly: Grant us, in all our doubts and uncertainties, the grace to ask what you would have us to do, that the Spirit of wisdom may save us from all false choices, and that in your light we may see light, and in your straight path may not stumble; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen. (pg 832)
