Forgive us, Lord, for denying the hope of Redemption and Resurrection : We still murder you throughout the world

Hail Mary, full of sorrows,
the Crucified One is with you:
tearful are you among women,
and tearful is the fruit of your womb, Jesus.
Holy Mary, Mother of the Crucified,
grant tears to us crucifiers of your Son,
now and at the hour of our death.
Amen.

-Traditional variation on the Ave Maria

It may be Easter season for us, but for many others, Holy Week, perhaps even Good Friday, has just begun.

O God of Compassion,
thou lettest thy rain fall on the just and the unjust.
Expand and deepen our hearts
so that we may love as thou lovest,
perfectly and unconditionally,
loving our brother who breaketh thy commandment as he that keepeth thy word.

Forgive us, Good Lord, for our cruelty and pursuit of vengance.
We have sinned and erred exceedingly and yet continue unabated our sinning. Thou spake unto thy disciples saying "whosoever shall smite thee on thy right cheek, turn to him the other also," and yet we have wantonly ignored thy word.

Under Pilate wert thou crucified, and we have not yet learned thy message of meekness and compassion.

Forgive, us good Lord, forgive us. By thine Agony and Bloody Sweat; by thy Cross and Passion;
by thy precious Death and Burial; through Our Lady of Sorrows and through the witness of the martyrs, we beseech thee forgive us.
